Main Ingredients

Teriyaki Sauce

Method

Preparation of Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 1

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce is slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare the Salmon

  1. 2

    Marinate the Salmon

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over them. Ensure the salmon is well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 3

    Cook the Salmon

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the marinade. Cook the salmon for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  3. 4

    Glaze the Salmon

In the last minute of cooking, brush the remaining teriyaki sauce over the salmon to glaze it.

Prepare the Watercress

  1. 5

    Prepare Watercress

Rinse the watercress under cold water and pat dry. Arrange on a serving plate as a bed for the salmon.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate and Garnish

Place the grilled salmon on top of the watercress. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish. Drizzle any remaining teriyaki sauce over the top if desired.
