Toast the Szechuan Peppercorns
In a dry skillet over medium heat, add the Szechuan peppercorns. Toast for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant, shaking the pan occasionally. Remove from heat and crush lightly using a mortar and pestle or the bottom of a heavy pan.

Stir-fry the Ingredients
In the same skillet used for the peppercorns, add sesame oil over medium heat. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
