Lightly crush the black peppercorns using a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon. Set aside.

Using a microplane or zester, remove the zest from the orange, being careful to avoid the bitter white pith. Set the zest aside.

Chill a rocks glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the Don Julio tequila, crushed black pepper, orange zest, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup.

Shake the Mixture
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.

Garnish the cocktail with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and a twist of orange peel on top.
