Method
Dumpling Dough Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Beef Filling Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Filling
In a separate bowl, mix the ground beef, curry powder, beef savory soup, grated ginger, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Ensure the mixture is well combined and adjust seasoning to taste.
Assembling the Dumplings
- 3
Shape the Dumplings
After the dough has rested, roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a round cutter (about 3 inches in diameter). Place a tablespoon of the beef filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal, creating a pleated dumpling.
Cooking the Dumplings
- 4
Pan-Fry the Dumplings
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully place the dumplings in the pan and fry for about 2-3 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown. Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and cover immediately to steam the dumplings for about 5-6 minutes until cooked through.
Serving
- 5
Serve Hot
Once the dumplings are cooked, remove them from the pan and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
