Cocktail
Garnish & Rim
Method
Prepare Glass
- 1
Salt the rim
Pour the kosher or sea salt onto a small plate. Run the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass to moisten it. Dip the moistened rim into the salt and twist to evenly coat. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Mix Cocktail
- 3
Add the reposado tequila (2 oz), Grand Marnier (1 oz), fresh lime juice (1 oz), simple syrup (0.5 oz) and 2 dashes of orange bitters to a cocktail shaker.
- 4
Fill the shaker with ice cubes (about 6). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and well chilled.
- 5
If you prefer a slightly smoother texture, double-strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a short mixing glass or directly into the prepared chilled serving glass over fresh serving ice (about 1 cup). Otherwise, strain once into the glass with fresh ice.
Finish & Garnish
- 6
Express oils from an orange twist (if using) over the drink by holding the twist with the peel facing down and giving it a firm bend above the cocktail, then drop the twist in or lay across the rim.
- 7
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally, grate a little fine lime zest over the top for aroma.
- 8
Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly.
