Pear Drink Base
Optional Finish & Garnish
Method
Pear Drink Base
Cook pears
Combine the chopped pears, 1 cup water and the granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 8–10 minutes until the pears are very soft and sugar is dissolved.
Strain (optional)
For an extra-smooth drink, pour the pear puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing with a spatula to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids left in the sieve.
Dilute and chill
Add 1 cup cold water to the strained pear puree and stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or dilution — add up to 2 more tablespoons sugar or more cold water if desired. Refrigerate the pear base until well chilled, at least 30 minutes.
Optional Finish & Garnish
Assemble drink
Fill two glasses with ice. If using, add a few mint leaves to each glass and a pear slice on the rim. Pour the chilled pear base evenly into the glasses until about two-thirds full (about 3/4 cup per glass). Top each glass with about 1/2 cup club soda for a sparkling finish, or leave still by adding cold water instead.
Serve
Stir gently to combine, taste and adjust with a squeeze of lemon if desired. Serve immediately.
