Method

Turkey Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Turkey

Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Season the Turkey

Rub the turkey with softened butter and season generously with salt, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, and sage.

  4. 4

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey breast-side up on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  5. 5

    Baste the Turkey

Baste the turkey every 30 minutes with the pan juices to keep it moist.

Stuffing Preparation

  1. 6

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed vegetables with the stale bread cubes, chicken broth, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  3. 8

    Stuff the Turkey

Stuff the turkey cavity with the prepared stuffing. Any remaining stuffing can be baked separately in a greased dish.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 9

    Make the Roux

After removing the turkey from the roasting pan, pour the pan drippings into a saucepan, leaving the brown bits in the pan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk in the flour. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

  2. 10

    Add Broth

Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
