Turkey

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Turkey

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove the giblets from the turkey cavity and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Rub the turkey with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and melted butter, ensuring to cover the entire surface. Stuff the cavity with chopped rosemary, thyme, and sage.

  2. 2

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast the turkey for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the turkey with its juices every 30 minutes for a golden brown skin.

  3. 3

    Rest the Turkey

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

Stuffing

  1. 4

    Prepare the Stuffing

In a large skillet, melt some butter over medium heat. Add chopped celery and onion, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked vegetables, chicken broth, salt, pepper, dried thyme, dried sage, and beaten eggs. Mix until the bread is fully moistened.

  2. 5

    Bake the Stuffing

Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake alongside the turkey for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Green Bean Casserole

  1. 6

    Prepare the Casserole

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then drain. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and green beans. Mix well.

  2. 7

    Bake the Casserole

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, top with French fried onions, and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 8

    Cook the Potatoes

Place peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes.

  2. 9

    Mash the Potatoes

In the same pot, add butter, milk, salt, and pepper to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Gravy

  1. 10

    Make the Gravy

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the turkey drippings and whisk in flour to create a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then slowly whisk in chicken broth. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
