Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Bread

Cut the French bread into small cubes and let it sit out overnight to dry, or toast the cubes in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 20-30 minutes until dry.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté for about 10 minutes until the vegetables are soft and the onion is translucent.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dried bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, chopped sage, thyme, parsley, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  2. 4

    Add Liquid Mixture

In a separate bowl, whisk together the chicken or vegetable broth and the beaten eggs. Pour this mixture over the bread and vegetable mixture, and stir until everything is evenly coated.

Baking

  1. 5

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 6

    Bake

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
