Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Green Beans

Wash the fresh green beans thoroughly under running water. Trim the ends of the green beans and cut them into 2-inch pieces.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Blanch the Green Beans

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and blanch them for about 5 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain the beans and set them aside.

  2. 3

    Make the Sauce

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the blanched green beans and the sauce mixture. Stir until the green beans are evenly coated.

Baking

  1. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

  2. 6

    Bake the Casserole

Transfer the green bean and sauce mixture to the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly and top with the French fried onions.

  3. 7

    Final Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and the onions are golden brown.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your crispy onion topped green bean casserole!
