Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F). If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are fully lit.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the steak on the grill and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Cook to Desired Doneness

After searing, move the steak to a cooler part of the grill. Close the lid and cook until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, etc.).

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

Finish with Butter and Herbs (Optional)

If desired, melt butter over the steak while it rests and top with fresh rosemary sprigs for added flavor.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
