Prime Rib Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Remove the prime rib roast from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Seasoning

In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub this mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring even coverage.

  3. 3

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  4. 4

    Searing

In a large roasting pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the prime rib on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Roasting

After searing, place the prime rib in the oven and roast for about 15 minutes. Then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until a meat thermometer registers 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Resting

Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Finishing Touches

While resting, you can prepare a sauce by deglazing the roasting pan with beef bone broth and stirring in the butter until melted. Serve this sauce alongside the prime rib.
