Patti Melt Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onion thinly. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

In a bowl, combine the ground sirloin with salt and black pepper. Form into 2 equal patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Patty Melt

On a slice of rye bread, place a cooked patty, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese and some sautéed onions (if desired). Top with another slice of rye bread.

  5. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

Melt additional butter in the skillet and place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Grill until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and grill the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
