Steak and Seasoning

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the Kansas City strip steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil and season generously with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Broiler

Preheat your broiler on high and place an oven-safe skillet or broiler pan in the oven to heat for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Broil the Steak

Carefully place the seasoned steak in the preheated skillet or pan. Broil for about 5-7 minutes on one side, then flip and broil for an additional 5-7 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve hot, optionally with your choice of sides.
