Seasonal Toppings
Method
Preparing the Flatbread Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour mixture along with the olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Preparing the Toppings
- 6
Prepare the Vegetables
Wash and chop the seasonal vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
- 7
Mix Toppings
In a bowl, combine the chopped vegetables with fresh herbs, feta cheese, black pepper, and sea salt to taste.
Assembling and Baking
- 8
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- 9
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion out into a flat circle or rectangle on a floured surface.
- 10
Add Toppings
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet and evenly distribute the vegetable topping mixture on top.
- 11
Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze
Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the topped flatbreads.
- 12
Bake the Flatbread
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is slightly melted.
- 13
Serve
Remove the flatbreads from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
