Crispy Shallots

Method

Salisbury Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form and Cook the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into oval patties. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side until they are browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Whipped Potatoes

  1. 3

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into even-sized pieces. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes.

  2. 4

    Whip the Potatoes

In a mixing bowl, combine the drained potatoes, butter, milk, and salt. Use a potato masher or electric mixer to whip until smooth and creamy.

Roasted Carrots

  1. 5

    Prepare Carrots

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and cut the carrots into sticks. In a bowl, toss the carrots with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 6

    Roast the Carrots

Spread the carrots on a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until tender and slightly caramelized.

Buttered Peas

  1. 7

    Cook the Peas

In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the frozen peas and cook for about 3-5 minutes until heated through. Drain.

  2. 8

    Add Butter and Season

Return the peas to the saucepan, add butter and salt to taste. Stir until the butter is melted and the peas are well coated.

Mushroom Gravy

  1. 9

    Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet used for the patties, add butter. Sauté chopped onions and sliced mushrooms over medium heat until they are soft and browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 10

    Make the Gravy

Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth while stirring. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Crispy Shallots

  1. 11

    Prepare the Shallots

Slice shallots thinly and toss in flour until well coated.

  2. 12

    Fry the Shallots

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the shallots in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
