Main Ingredients

For Cooking

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crab Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, mayonnaise, breadcrumbs, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped green onions, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors meld and makes the mixture easier to shape.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Form the Crab Cakes

Once the mixture has chilled, remove it from the refrigerator. With your hands, form the mixture into patties about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. You can make around 8 to 10 patties depending on the size.

  2. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot before adding the crab cakes to avoid them sticking.

  3. 5

    Cook the Crab Cakes

Carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet in batches, being sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to flip them gently.

  4. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm, with your choice of dipping sauce or lemon wedges.
