Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the French baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick slices. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Brush the sliced bread lightly with olive oil on both sides. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast for about 5-7 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
Topping Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Tomato Mixture
While the bread is toasting, dice the fresh tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl. Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl.
- 4
Season the Mixture
Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes and basil. Drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil, and add salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Assembly
- 5
Top the Bread
Spoon the tomato mixture generously over each slice of toasted bread.
- 6
Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze
Finish by drizzling balsamic glaze over the topped bread for added flavor and presentation.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately as an appetizer or snack while the bread is still warm.
