Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients and set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Mozzarella Sticks

Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour, making sure to coat it evenly, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese to ensure they stick well.

  3. 3

    Chill the Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.

  4. 4

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until aromatic but not browned.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Serve the Sauce

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
