Method

Mousse Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Whisk Eggs and Sugar

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk the large eggs with the granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine, then add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  4. 4

    Chill the Mousse

Pour the mousse mixture into serving glasses or bowls and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the cream until soft peaks form.

  2. 6

    Top the Mousse

Once the mousse is set, remove it from the refrigerator and top each serving with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
