Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth, then gradually add the sugar mixture, beating until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Alternate adding the dry mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fold in Bananas

Gently fold in the mashed ripe bananas until evenly incorporated.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Pudding Preparation

  1. 9

    Prepare the Pudding

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and 4 cups of milk until smooth and thickened. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Layer the Cake

Once the cake has cooled, cut it into two layers horizontally.

  2. 11

    Spread Pudding

Place one layer of the cake on a serving platter and spread half of the prepared pudding over it.

  3. 12

    Add Second Layer

Place the second layer of cake on top of the pudding.

  4. 13

    Top with Whipped Cream

Spread the remaining pudding over the top layer of the cake, then top with whipped cream.

  5. 14

    Garnish

Garnish with sliced bananas on top of the whipped cream.

  6. 15

    Chill Before Serving

Cover the cake with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
