Cannoli Shells

Add-ins and Garnish

Whipped Cream (optional)

Method

Prepare ricotta filling

  1. 1

    Smooth ricotta base

In a medium bowl, beat the ricotta until smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Sweeten and flavor

Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon to the ricotta; fold until well combined.

  3. 3

    Brighten with orange

Stir in the orange zest. Transfer filling to a piping bag or small bowl and refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes.

Whipped cream (optional)

  1. 4

    Whip cream

Chill a mixing bowl and whisk, then beat heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Keep chilled.

Assemble cannoli

  1. 5

With a piping bag or spoon, fill each cannoli shell with ricotta filling, filling from both ends to ensure even coverage without overfilling.

  2. 6

Dip or roll the ends of filled shells in mini chocolate chips, chopped pistachios, or candied orange peel for garnish.

Chill and serve

  1. 7

Place filled cannoli on a tray and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to set the filling.

  2. 8

Serve chilled with optional whipped cream on the side and a light dusting of extra cinnamon if desired.
