Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Mix until smooth.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Bake the Base
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, until set but not browned.

Prepare the Topping Mixture
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Add Sugar and Lemon
Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest until the mixture is creamy.

Pour the gooey topping over the partially baked cake base, spreading it evenly.

Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is set and slightly golden.

Allow the cake to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
