Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even-sized sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potato sticks in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps them become crispier.

  3. 3

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the proper temperature.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the potato sticks to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle them with salt and any optional seasonings like paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
