Method

Preparation of Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the B&B pickles, dill spears, and gherkins and set them aside on paper towels to absorb excess moisture.

Batter Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 3

    Add Egg and Water

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the cold water. Mix well before adding to the dry ingredients. Stir until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  3. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the battered pickles to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  4. 7

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
