Brisket Preparation
- 1
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 2
In a small bowl, mix together onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it is well coated.
- 4
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned.
- 5
Pour beef broth into the skillet and cover it with a lid or aluminum foil.
- 6
Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for about 3 hours, or until the brisket is tender.
- 7
Remove the brisket from the oven, let it rest for 15-20 minutes, then slice against the grain.
Sides Preparation
- 8
For coleslaw, combine shredded cabbage and carrots in a large bowl. Toss with your favorite coleslaw dressing.
- 9
For baked beans, heat canned baked beans in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
Biscuit Preparation
- 10
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 11
Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 12
Stir in milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 13
Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 14
Bake in the oven at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
