Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Trim excess fat from the beef brisket and cut it into 1-inch cubes.

  2. 2

    Chop Vegetables

Chop the onion, bell peppers, and carrots and mince the garlic.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sear the Brisket

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the brisket cubes and sear on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same pot, add chopped onion, bell peppers, and diced carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. 5

    Add Spices

Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to the pot. Stir well to coat the vegetables.

  4. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Return the seared brisket to the pot. Add canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.

  5. 7

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the brisket is tender and flavors are well combined.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Chili

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with your choice of toppings such as cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
