Method

Prepare Oatmeal

  1. 1

    Cook the Oats

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of rolled oats, 2 cups of water or milk, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Simmer

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oatmeal reaches your desired consistency.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 3

    Slice the Banana

While the oatmeal is cooking, peel and slice 1 banana into thin rounds.

  2. 4

    Toast the Pecans

In a small skillet over medium heat, add 0.5 cups of pecans and toast for about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat.

  3. 5

    Add Sweeteners

Once the oatmeal is cooked, stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and mix until dissolved. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of local honey.

Assemble and Serve

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Spoon the oatmeal into bowls. Top with sliced bananas and toasted pecans. Drizzle a little extra honey if desired. Serve warm.
