Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Simple Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool.

  2. 2

    Infuse Orange Flavor

Once the simple syrup has cooled, add the orange zest and the scraped seeds from the vanilla bean (along with the pod itself) to the syrup. Stir to combine and let it infuse for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain the Syrup

After infusion, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the zest and vanilla pod, returning the liquid to the saucepan.

  4. 4

Combine with Cognac and Orange Juice

Add the cognac and orange juice to the strained syrup in the saucepan. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.

  5. 5

    Bottle the Grand Marnier

Pour the mixture into a clean bottle or jar. Seal tightly and let it rest for at least 24 hours at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld together.
