Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until fully combined and slightly frothy.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Take your thick slices of bread and set them aside. You can use any type of bread you prefer, but brioche or challah works particularly well.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat until it starts to bubble.

  2. 4

    Dip the Bread

Take each slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Allow any excess mixture to drip off.

  3. 5

    Cook the French Toast

Place the dipped bread slices onto the skillet or griddle. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  4. 6

    Repeat

After the first batch is cooked, add the remaining butter to the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Serve

Once all slices are cooked, serve the French toast warm. Top with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruit as desired.
