Dough Ingredients

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Forming Buns

  1. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide it into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.

  2. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough balls on a greased baking sheet, cover with a towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Herb Butter Preparation

  1. 8

    Make Herb Butter

In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter with chopped parsley, chives, and thyme until well combined. Season with flaked sea salt to taste.

Baking

  1. 9

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 10

    Bake Buns

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove the buns from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve warm with the herb butter.
