Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, orange juice, lime juice, garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the meat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

  4. 4

    Crisp the Pork (Optional)

For crispy carnitas, place the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for 5-7 minutes until the edges are crispy.

  5. 5

    Prepare Toppings

While the pork is cooking, chop the avocado, cilantro, and onion. Set aside.

  6. 6

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side.

  7. 7

    Assemble Tacos

Layer the shredded pork onto the warm tortillas, and top with avocado, cilantro, onions, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
