Method

Cooking the Sausage

  1. 1

    Cook the Sausage Patty

In a skillet over medium heat, place the sausage patty and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Making Hashbrowns

  1. 2

    Prepare Hashbrowns

In the same skillet, add the hashbrowns and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once done, remove from skillet and keep warm.

Cooking Eggs

  1. 3

    Fry the Eggs

Using the same skillet, crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your desired doneness (sunny side up, over easy, etc.), about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Making Gravy

  1. 4

    Prepare the Gravy

In a medium saucepan, heat the sausage drippings over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the buttermilk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 5

    Assemble the Sunrise

To assemble, cut the biscuit in half and place the bottom half on a plate. Top with the hashbrowns, followed by the sausage patty, fried eggs, and then generously pour the sausage gravy over the top. Place the biscuit top on and serve immediately.
