Method

Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Take the mozzarella cheese sticks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. This will help prevent them from breaking during frying.

Breading Mixture

  1. 2

    Set Up the Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, whisk the eggs in the second bowl, and combine the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in the third bowl.

  2. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off the excess. Then, dip it into the whisked eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Repeat this process for all cheese sticks.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add a few breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to remove the sticks and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Dipping Sauce

  1. 6

    Serve with Marinara Sauce

Heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through. Serve the fried mozzarella sticks hot with the marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
