Cheese Curds

For Frying

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Jalapenos

Finely chop the jalapenos, removing the seeds if you prefer less heat. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Whisk together until well blended.

  3. 3

    Prepare Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Add the chopped jalapenos and cheese curds to the dry ingredients. Mix gently to coat the cheese curds with the flour mixture. Then pour the egg mixture over the top and stir until everything is well combined.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 6

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Once the oil is hot, carefully drop spoonfuls of the cheese curd mixture into the oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  3. 7

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried cheese curds from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
