Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Steaks
Take the filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps them cook evenly.
- 2
Season the Steaks
Rub the steaks with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- 3
Preheat the Pan
In a large skillet or cast iron pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 4
Sear the Steaks
Add the filet mignon steaks to the pan and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time to your desired doneness.
- 5
- 6
Rest the Steaks
Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes.
- 7
Make the Sauce
In the same pan, add beef broth and scrape up any browned bits. Let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- 8
Serve
Slice the filet mignon and serve with the sauce drizzled over the top.
