Chowder Ingredients

Method

Chowder Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the grease in the pot.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add butter to the pot with the bacon grease. Once melted, add the diced onion and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they are soft.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic and Potatoes

Stir in the minced garlic and diced potatoes. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Broth and Clams

Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and add the chopped clams, thyme, black pepper, and salt. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.

  5. 5

    Finish with Cream

Stir in the heavy cream and let the chowder heat through. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper, if necessary.

  6. 6

    Serve

Ladle the chowder into bowls and top with the reserved crispy bacon. Enjoy!
