Filet Mignon Ingredients
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Steaks
Take the filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in even cooking.
- 2
Season the Steaks
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.
- 3
Sear the Steaks
Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy frying pan over high heat. When hot, add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes on one side without moving them.
- 4
Flip and Add Flavorings
Flip the steaks using tongs. Add the garlic cloves and rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the melted butter and juices in the pan.
- 5
Check Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks. For medium-rare, it should read about 130°F (54°C).
- 6
Rest the Steaks
Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- 7
Serve
Slice and serve the filet mignon with your choice of sides. Enjoy your perfectly cooked filet mignon!
