Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (1/2 pound each). Shape each portion into a patty, ensuring it is slightly larger than the bun to account for shrinkage during cooking. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help melt the cheese.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by one cheeseburger patty, then add two slices of tomato, two onion slices, and two pickle slices. Top with ketchup and mustard to taste, then add the second cheeseburger patty on top. Finally, place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the double stack burger immediately with your choice of sides.
