Prepare Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and allow it to cool. Once cooled, stir in 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until dissolved.
Prepare Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Combine with Mascarpone
Add 500 grams of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture, and gently fold until well combined.

Whip Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Fold in Whipped Cream
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assemble Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger in the cooled espresso mixture for about 1-2 seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Repeat the soaking and layering process with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve

Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and add dark chocolate shavings if desired.
