Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint and Sugar
In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press the mint leaves to release their oils while mixing in the sugar. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much; you just want to bruise them.
- 2
Add Lime Juice
Pour the fresh lime juice into the glass with the muddled mint and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.
- 3
Add Rum
Pour the white rum into the glass with the mint-lime mixture. Stir again to mix well.
- 4
Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes to the top. This will help to chill the cocktail and dilute it slightly as the ice melts.
- 5
Top with Soda Water
Slowly pour the soda water over the ice until the glass is nearly full. This will give the mojito its refreshing fizz.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Garnish the mojito with lime wedges and mint sprigs for a fresh touch. Serve immediately with a straw for sipping.
