Wine Ingredients

Method

Wine Making Process

  1. 1

    Harvesting the Grapes

Begin by harvesting ripe Verdejo grapes, ensuring that they are free from rot or disease. Aim for a harvest weight of about 1000 grams.

  2. 2

    Crushing the Grapes

Place the harvested grapes in a clean fermentation vessel. Use a grape crusher or your hands to gently crush the grapes to release their juice.

  3. 3

    Adding Water

Add 100 ml of clean water to the crushed grapes to help extract flavors and sugars during fermentation.

  4. 4

    Inoculating with Yeast

Sprinkle 10 grams of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast evenly over the grape mixture. Stir gently to incorporate the yeast into the must.

  5. 5

    Adding Sulfites

Dissolve 50 mg of sulfites in a small amount of water and add it to the mixture to prevent unwanted microbial growth during fermentation.

  6. 6

    Fermentation

Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth and let the mixture ferment at a controlled temperature of around 18-22°C (64-72°F) for 2-3 weeks. Stir the mixture every few days.

  7. 7

    Pressing the Wine

After fermentation, press the mixture to separate the liquid from the solids. Collect the liquid in a clean container.

  8. 8

    Aging the Wine

Transfer the wine to a secondary fermentation vessel (like an oak barrel or glass carboy) and let it age for at least 3 months for improved flavor.

  9. 9

    Bottling

After aging, carefully siphon the wine into bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles with corks.
