Marinade
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ribs
Rinse the pork ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Trim any excess fat if necessary.
- 2
Season the Ribs
Rub the ribs evenly with salt and black pepper on both sides. Set aside while preparing the marinade.
Marinade
- 3
Mix the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red food coloring. Whisk until well combined.
- 4
Marinate the Ribs
Place the seasoned ribs in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Cooking
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
- 6
Prepare for Baking
Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on a baking tray lined with foil. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- 7
Bake the Ribs
Cover the ribs with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
- 8
Baste the Ribs
After 2 hours, remove the foil and baste the ribs with the reserved marinade. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes, until the ribs are caramelized and cooked through.
Serving
- 9
Slice and Serve
Once the ribs are done, let them rest for 10 minutes. Then slice between the bones and serve with your favorite sides.
