Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brussels Sprouts

Trim the stem ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow or damaged leaves. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Brussels Sprouts

In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add olive oil and then the halved Brussels sprouts. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender.

  2. 4

    Make the Balsamic Reduction

While the Brussels sprouts are cooking, pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and reduce for about 10-15 minutes, until it thickens slightly. Stir in honey and set aside.

  3. 5

    Combine and Serve

Crumble the cooked bacon and add it to the sautéed Brussels sprouts. Drizzle the balsamic reduction over the top and toss to combine. Serve warm.
