Sauce Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 1

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

  2. 2

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 3

    Add Spices and Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes, canned crushed tomatoes, and chopped Calabrian chili peppers. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Season the Sauce

Add the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste. Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook the Shrimp

  1. 5

    Add Shrimp to Sauce

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet.

  2. 6

    Cook Shrimp

Cook the shrimp in the sauce for about 4-5 minutes or until they turn pink and are cooked through.

  3. 7

    Add Cheese and Basil

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the shrimp and sauce, then cover the skillet for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil.
