Method

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

1

Cook the Meats

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage and ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking apart the meat with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

2

Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

3

Add Liquids and Seasonings

Pour in the red wine, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes. Then, add the Pomodorina sauce, salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Stir well and let it simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.

Cheese Mixture Preparation

4

Mix the Cheese

In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Lasagna Assembly

5

Layer the Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of Bolognese sauce on the bottom. Place 3 sheets of lasagna noodles on top, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers: Bolognese sauce, noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, and another third of mozzarella.

6

Final Layer

Top with the remaining Bolognese sauce and the last third of the mozzarella cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.

7

Bake the Lasagna

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

8

Rest and Serve

Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
