Pizza Dough

Method

Pizza Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until the dough comes together. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll out into a 12-inch round or stretch it by hand.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Transfer the shaped dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough. Distribute the artisan pepperoni slices on top. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves over the top. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
