Pasta

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and black pepper. Sauté until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Prosciutto

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the prosciutto and sauté until crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside with the shrimp.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.

  2. 5

    Add Cream and Season

Stir in the heavy cream, chopped rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  3. 6

    Incorporate the Cheese

Gradually add in the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 7

    Combine Pasta and Proteins

Add the cooked penne pasta, sautéed shrimp, and crispy prosciutto to the sauce. Toss until everything is well coated.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the Penne Rustica hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh rosemary if desired.
