Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3

Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until well combined.

4

Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

5

Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cake

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

7

Prepare the Butter

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter with a mixer until creamy.

8

Add Cocoa Powder

Sift in the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.

9

Incorporate Sugar and Milk

Gradually add the powdered sugar and whole milk, beating on low speed until combined. Increase to medium speed and beat until fluffy.

10

Finish with Vanilla

Stir in the vanilla extract and mix until everything is well combined and smooth.

11

Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
