Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugars

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fold in Mix-ins

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Scoop the Dough

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.

  2. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

  3. 9

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
